Generically speaking, ASRS or AS/RS refers to a variety of computer-controlled methods for automatically depositing and retrieving loads from defined storage locations. Within an ASRS environment, one would find one or more of the following technologies: Horizontal Carousels, Vertical Carousels, Vertical Lift Modules (VLM) and/or the traditional Fixed Aisle (F/A) Storage & Retrieval Systems that utilize a storage retrieval (SR) crane.
