SCADA

Nowadays, intralogistic systems are getting more and more complex plus the space needs are getting bigger and bigger. Thus, monitoring complete sites at an “operator’s glance” (in physical terms) is not feasible any more. Therefore, the consistent presentation, of all system components, is essential for servicing and reducing downtimes. Via selektron psb offers a customized software package to match the particular requirements of the

individual system and support the maintenance engineers. Software modules for communication, visualization, diagnostics, reporting tools and data acquisition provide a high flexibility in the customization of hardware and software. If the analyzing options should not meet the user requirements, messages and material flow data could be transferred into standard IT applications.

Material flow

A major task of intralogistics is the transport of goods in suitable bins; it requires specific, real time IT systems. The IT system has to find the best connection between a source and a target. Redundancy, speed and the suitable conveyor systems are general conditions in order to find the most efficient way through the system. psb conceives and implements material flow systems

which are directed by computers and controls. The jobs are assigned to these levels according to evidence and complexity. Central element of these systems is the transport matrix which is integrated in the selektron system. It determines the suitable route and assigns different functions to the interstations, as e.g. weighing, scanning and printing.

Control level

Control systems are the connecting link between the logistic process level and the mechanical components of the warehousing and conveyor systems. Purpose of the controls is to determine system states within the intralogistic process and react to these states. psb conceives and implements sophisticated control systems, on the basis of single

components and modules, and total integrated systems with control hierarchies. Up-to-date network technologies and bus systems, in connection with control systems of leading providers, allow a high availability. Modularity and integration into the selektron system allow for easy maintenance and modification.

Production control

Besides the automation of production as such, infastructural measures for the automation of the material flow in production become more important all the time. The objective is to integrate machines and workstations into a well coordinated supply and disposal process (with respect to time and quantity). With the selektron system, interfaces to ERP systems dispatch the production orders. The orders are directed through

manufacturing according to the internal requirements, with regard to strategies, as workstation connection, Just in Time or Just in Sequence. Capacity scheduling of the individual workstations is also considered. The connection of machines and handling devices, the control of the conveyor system at the workstation and the automatic feedback (PDA/MDA) provide for an integrated solution.

Simulation

The complexity of our products and the high, ever changing demands of our customers on their system installations require to consider any possible eventualities already before the realization of the project. psb possesses an efficient simulation tool by which the most different scenarios can be analyzed. This guarantees that the optimum size of a system installation is conceived right in the beginning and that the duration of
the project is reduced considerably. Different simulation processes are available, depending on the particular performance requirements:

- Realistic generation of articles
and orders
- Weakpoint analysis
- Bottleneck analysis
- Performance of experiments
- Collection of statistical data
- Resource planning/scheduling
